an original gift
This morning was the same as a typical Christmas morning in the Borne household. I received a new camera to take the place of the busted one and all was well in the world of the cajun one. We went over to Nanny Brenda's house to begin our newest tradition of playing with the children, and began opening presents. Nothing too exciting, you must be thinking. And then...I opened the most amazing gift anyone has ever given me! Eat your heart out chicks and get ready for our newest roommies!
Merry Christmas from my family (and soon to be ours) to YOURS!

Pretty sure I miss you!
While our faithful readers already know the extent of our insanity (and slight obsession with each other), I will only further confirm your suspicions I'm sure through this entry which is specifically written to the other 5 parts of me (you know who you are).
Currently it is the 20th day of the month of December in the year 2005 - approximately 3 whole days since we "chicks" parted. Can you believe that it already feels like the days are creeping by like molasses and time has elapsed enough for me to be growing gray hairs since I saw each of you? How does that happen? I think you should know that I've seen far too many movies already in the last 3 days, I've laughed a lot less than normal, and I've suddenly taken a liking for reading ( :o - OH MY!) Something is wrong with this picture. My conclusion is this . . .
WE BELONG TOGETHER!
So I want you to know that you are like my family. You mean so so much to me. There are not words enough in the English language to express my appreciation for you. and I want each of you to have the Christmas of a lifetime. Whether it be in a cajun town with lots of parents and alcohol;), on a quaint street in Lewisville with a small family, in MO with the amazing Memaw and Papa, at grandma's with aunts, uncles and cousins in Denton, or with lots and lots of 'B' named people in Fort Worth, ENJOY! FELIZ NAVIDAD! I pray that the Lord shows you his sweet affections for you this holiday season. and know, too, that I LOVE YOU!

Winter Wonderland
The chicks definitely got into the Christmas spirit last night. The wind was chilly, we had the Texas version of snow (drizzly rain), and Mariah Carey blasting from the ipod. With chestnuts roasting on the open fire, the chicks proceeded to decorate yummy cookies, dance around a bit, and then partake in the age-old tradition of Christmas caroling. After bundling up and making it down 3 very treacherous steps and piling into Ollie, the fun began.
Memorable events:
Dancing and singing to Christmas pop music
Searching for Pickle's apartment in the freezing rain
Breaking into Wes and Michael's with Lauren's "off beat" kick
Practicing our "medley" for the Luther house,
Taking numerous pictures because Sarah couldn't open her eyes,
Singing All I Want for Christmas to Mr. D.O.,
Claire mastering foggy windows,
and the list just goes on....
All this to say: Merry Christmas to all those we love from the Six Chicks!

A Tribute...from his biggest fans
Pictured to the left is our great friend, Michael "Mikey" Mills playing with his band "While We're Here" at Coffee Station in College Station. His drumming abilities are endless and he for sure impressed us with his skills. Three of the six chicks and Stephanie (the 6 1/2 chick) came out to support Mikey--we are his biggest fans after all!
We truly enjoyed watching our dear friend drum his little heart away.
Overall, it was an amazing show. I think Mikey was satisfied!

an exciting day has arrived in the mouth of one of the chicks!
Now, I know that you are all wondering to yourself...Self, What could possibly be going in the mouth of a chick??? Well minus the shaving of a certain chick's overweight tooth, Sarah got her braces off!!!! That's right her mouth is screaming...FREEDOM!!!! Now she can eat corn, carmel, bean sprouts, apples and many other fantastic foods and she has no fear of the skin of a black bean or cilantro from guacamole getting stuck in her brackets!!! She can now eat with complete and total confidence with no restrictions.... THIS deserves some celebration!!! And not only this but Sarah can now officially discontinue her membership in "You have braces and your in college" group, What an exciting day that we face with much jubilation! YEAY for Sarah!

Happy Turkey Day!
This ugly white turkey is exactly what you're about to eat (or already did). The chicks recently heard a little fact about our Thanksgiving holiday turkey-eating tradition. You see... there are these turkey breeders who breed white feathered turkeys so that they won't have spotted skin! So thanks to all those wonderful white feathered friends, your holiday season is a little brighter and a lot less speckled.
We would like to wish each of you a very Happy White-Feathered Thanksgiving!

a new brookie phrase has emerged
Hayley's birthday was over a month ago, and we, the six chicks of eagle pass, were finally able to celebrate her birthday! Her birthday wish was for her chicks to take her on a weekend o fun in the lovely Austin, TX (which, in my humble opinion, is a little piece of heaven in the midst of this huge state)! Needless to say we were all very excited! We ate at Kerbey Lane Cafe and ejoyed the oh so yummy Kerbey Queso! Man, did I mention that that stuff is GOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! We then ventured off to the Texas State Capital where, in our ridiculousness, numerous pictures were taken and much fun was had.
Of course we had to model the Beatles:
And take a cute picture after singing to Hayley:
And beg for food:
And take senior pictures:
And play with the children:
And Dance:
And take another 6 chicks picture to add to the collection:
But the craziest thing that happened all weekend was the event that coined the newest Brooke "______________" Face phrase---Brookie "Make Out" Face:
Overall, it was a good weekend! Good friends, good food, good city, good laughs, good drinks, good times! This is just the beginning of the six chicks adventures for our senior year. Stay tuned for more.

i am so ridiculous
This is coming from boredom and sheer hiliarity. Ok, so I know how to cook. People enjoy my cooking--or they have lied to my face. Anyways, I am not all that bad, don't expect gourmet lamb chops or something, but the occassional casserole--or shall I say, mean casserole is known to get some pretty good reactions. However, recently, I have been what some would call absentminded, I personally think I am ridiculous. It all started about 2 weeks ago with an ugly incident of burnt popcorn. Now popcorn is a tricky timing issue, and although I thought I had it under control, the smoke filling the house would beg to differ. Since the humiliation lasted while each roommate proceeded to ask, "what is that smell?" when they came home, I figured I had gotten it out of my system. Not so fast, a replay of the burning happened a few days later with an unfortunate pot of rice. Not all of the contents burned, but it did taste significantly like a camp fire. Needless to say, it was kind of embarrassing falling from my status as "good cook" to "Sarah burned something again" in such a short amount of time. But tonight might just make a place for me in history. The only reason I am admitting to this is so other may share in the insanity of the situation. Ok people, I burned water. I wanted to make pasta, one of the easiest meals known to mankind, but I lost all track of time and did not realize my mistake until the entire kitchen and living room were filling with a haze. So for all those wondering what happens to water when it boils too long, I discovered tonite that it turns into this dust-like substance. Just thought you might want to know. Now I am off to buy dinner because I no longer trust myself to produce anything edible.
Sorry chicks for the smell.

Fightin' Texas Aggie Six Chicks
The Six Chicks are officially seniors! Whoop! Who knew we would all be this excited about some little gold bling on our hands? But through the blood, sweat, and tears of 95 hours we are more than proud to sport our Aggie rings. The dunking of the rings proved to be a memorable moment as well, but of course we couldn't just roll with tradition totally. There is a long story about bundt cakes that I do not have time to go into here, but needless to say, the bundt (pronounced booon-t) cakes made their way back into the 6 chicks folklore. We were privileged to share the dunking experience with Derrick Oliver and Stephanie Logan--both very near and dear to the chicks' heart. Complete with icing and red sprinkles, each recipient of a ring mooshed their ring into the bottom of the bundt. With no hands, the fun began--please observe below:
The rush of excitement from smashing your face into a cake is one I highly reccomend, but please beware of the unavoidable sprinkles and and icing up your nose.
So congratulations 6 chicks, D.O. and Steph---Gig 'em Ags!

Trunk or Treat
Happy Halloween!
As the Six Chicks we felt obligated to represent as such in our halloween costumes. Trunk or Treat proved the perfect opportunity not only to fulfill our dream of dressing as cute yellow birds, but also to play with cute little kids, hand out box-fulls of candy, throw really fat penguins, and let Claire run around with a walkie-talkie. (notice the ever popular hip-clip she is sporting)

Recent Happening at Eagle Pass
Becuase I know that now, most of our "regular readers" (ha) have probably checked out D.O.'s blog after yesterday's entry, I figured you might like to know a little secret about our Mr. Oliver. Take a look at that picture...
Last Thursday night, Mikey and D.O. studied Lauren's bridal magazines closely. We've got a wedding to plan and they were very interested in helping! Thanks guys for taking such a personal interest in this new event in the 6 chicks lives!
Now for a quick game of "one of these things is not like the other"
Notice anything strange about our living room?
Look closely... This weekend we got to reminisce about last years prank war with the Nagle boys. Only this time it resulted in moving heavy furniture and re-establishing cable connection.
For the record: The Chicks won the war!

three unproductive hours
Today I was at work for three straight hours. And, you may be thinking to yourself, "self...that's a lot of time to do some homework." But, my dear friends, I would like to propose to you that in the three hours that I manned the help desk at the Read computer lab, I accomplished the following:
-Facebook (need I say more)
-Fox News (gotta keep up)
-talked to Brookie and Jess on aim
-the crossword (okay, so I didn't finish it, but I put a good dent in it)
-compulsively checked D.O.'s blog just in case he changed it in the three
hours I was here
So, in the midst of checking his blogspot, I found his pictures and found these two hilarious ones. You may look at them and think that they are not very funny but when I tell you the captions that D.O. had underneath them you will laugh so hard you may pee your pants!!! (I almost did...but wait...that's not saying much!) Under the Brookie solo picture, the caption read "Brookie awkard picture by herself face", and under the one of Jess and Jesse (hmmmmm...are you thinking what I'm thinking???) it read, "Jess getting fresh"!!! Tell me that is not hilarious!!!
So, to finish off my three hours of unproductive "work", I had to share the humor of my work shift with you all. I salute you and thank you D.O. for bringing humor to my day.
